.otbt communication has offices in Palma de Majorca, Spain and Munich, Germany.

The Situation
Both offices have small company networks with Apple Macintosh and Microsoft Windows PC computers. In the central office in Palma de Majorca is the main company server. Internet connection is achieved via broadband DSL connections enabling electronic communication. Access to files between the two locations should occur via an encrypted and secure VPN connection.

Both locations in separate companies have contracts with their respective national telephone company, and therefore different telephone numbers.

The Challenge
.otbt needed a partner to help realise the following goals:

• Availability of the Spanish central office for Munich customers with a 089 (Munich) prefix
• Bundling of internal IT and telephony infrastructure supported by one partner
• eSimplified communication connections between the Munich branch and the Majorca central office
• Installation of a VPN network for secure access to files on the central server
• Telephone calls at no charge between the central and branch office
• Ease of use due to the a familiar system and communication environment at both locations

The Solution
ccn planned for .otbt a VPN and VoIP solution; set-up and installation took place quickly.

The VPN with its strong encryption ensures secure access to files between the agency's offices.

A blueSIP PBX Solution was installed to complete the project: A VoIP enabled ASTERIK server was installed in the central office to function as switchboard for the company's telephony needs, connecting VoIP telephones as well as existing analogue appliances via a blueSIP adaptor.

The advantages
Both blueSIP VoIP telephones and adaptors for analogue telephones at both locations allow for free communication between the central and branch offices. Access to the company's confidential information is protected with an encrypted VPN network connection.

An interesting aspect of the solution, is that now the company's central office in Palma de Majorca can be reached by dialling a local Munich telephone number: Cost-saving and familiar. In addition, placing calls within Germany is cheaper than making an international long distance connection.
